High Performance
Enterprise Leader

Leaders with the P&L responsibility bear the weight of the enterprise. Most General Managers, Business Unit Leaders, or Divisional Presidents rise to the job by thriving in one specific “functional role,” such as sales, finance or operations. Coaching for the High Performance Enterprise Leader is specifically designed to help leaders learn the role of executive-at-large—a leader who thinks holistically about organizational alignment and can lead up, down, and sideways to balance the needs of all stakeholders.

The centerpiece of the coaching is a deep understanding of the Enterprise Leader’s performance around the 12 Roles of the Enterprise Leader as discovered through personal interviews, psychological assessment, and personal observation. The leadership roles model is helpful in understanding the complexity of the job. That’s important because most leaders at this level are generally self-aware, and easily bored with the traditional “strengths and weaknesses” method of feedback and coaching. In the context of the roles, MDA coaches provide straightforward, powerful feedback about personal style, impact on people, and skill gaps. The coaching process is channeled into the most immediately relevant roles to accelerate the performance of the business. We ensure the highest probability of success by involving the Enterprise Leader’s direct boss in quarterly accountability meetings—focusing the conversation on the Enterprise Leader's accountability scorecard with development expectations at the individual, team and organizational level.  For more information about MDA's High Performance Enterprise Leader program, contact Joe Volker or Paul Batz.
