While the prevalence of formalized succession planning practices appears to be increasing, many organizational leaders report low levels of confidence in their succession planning systems and processes. It represents one of the best opportunities for human resource professionals to implement sound talent management strategies and build partnerships with business leaders.
In this session, three of MDA's succession experts--Bob Barnett, Peter Germann, and Sandra Davis will review succession planning best practices, including the unique dynamics that characterize succession in the c-suite. They will address the common problems and obstacles that interfere with effective succession systems, and outline a practical, straightforward five-step approach that will help organizations improve both the art and the science of succession management.
Understanding How to Evaluate Your Workforce: General Mills Case StudyLacking a formal process for evaluating workforce planning, General Mills engaged MDA Leadership Consulting in the design and facilitation of a comprehensive workforce planning process that would provide the General Mills IS Team with a way to evaluate staffing implications and assess future technical and managerial capabilities needed for the next three years.
For the November HR Breakfast Briefing, MDA principal consultant Nancy Weidenfeller and Stephanie Ball, General Mills IS HR business partner, will walk through the process that General Mills developed, share what worked and what didn’t work, and evaluate the business implications it has had for the IS team.
December Breakfast Briefing"Leadership derailers" by definition refer to counterproductive behaviors that get in the way of success. When not managed well, they can cause leaders to overestimate their own impact, lose sight of how their actions impact others, and alienate peers and subordinates. Whether it’s a new employee transitioning into an organization, a solid performer needing to take their performance to the next level, or a leader dealing with stressful challenges in his/her current role, understanding the "watch out for" factors that may derail someone can be critical when considering selection, promotion or development decisions.
In this session, MDA assessment expert Sharon Sackett and executive coach Jason Ortmeier will review the concept of derailment, discuss methods for identifying/assessing for derailers, suggest development strategies for helping leaders manage their "dark side," and share case studies for how organizations have incorporated derailment evaluation into their talent management process.
Events are free, but seating is limited so registration is required.
The Depot is located in the Historic Mill and Riverfront Districts in downtown Minneapolis.
