Business Challenge:
A large metropolitan municipal government known for its bureaucracy
and bound by complex rules and policies for promotion and
advancement wanted to ensure that it has a stream of leaders ready
to meet the challenges of the future.
Solution:
MDA provided design expertise to build a unique and
cost-effective leadership development program for the city. A
series of invigorating and active learning experiences were
integrated into an intense, three-week development experience for
participants. MDA helped identify and coordinate a faculty of
first-class trainers who delivered a program where skills for
dealing with real-world leadership challenges were introduced and
applied.
Result:
Today, applicants for selection into the program
significantly outnumber the space available. Over two-thirds of the
participants have been promoted since completing the leadership
development program. Throughout the organization, the program
is recognized as an essential component of
citys efforts to remain one of the
most progressive and effective municipal governments in the
country.
