Shelly Rushmeyer, APR

Director of Marketing & Consultant

Shelly Rushmeyer is a high-energy consultant who is happiest when she’s wearing multiple hats and really busy. An expert in marketing, communications, and executive presence, Shelly is quick-minded and very organized. Clients appreciate her ability to frame issues, simplify complicated subject matter, and move things forward.  She loves to plan the work and work the plan—especially when the stakes are high for the client.

Shelly’s expertise was developed through a dozen years in public relations and marketing roles. She learned to work with executives on positioning, message development, and communication strategy at the public relations firm of Padilla Spear Beardsley. Her dual roles at MDA include both strategy development and implementation for the firm’s marketing activities, as well as client consulting and program management with MDA’s leadership development programs.

Shelly joined MDA in 2001. She was attracted to the firm because she enjoys studying leaders—how they think, behave, and inspire others. She has been a participant in the Leaders Circle development programs for professional women and a member of the Public Relations Society of America, earning the designation Accredited in Public Relations (APR).  She completed a B.S. in Mass Communications from St. Cloud State University.

Away from the office, Shelly maintains a healthy balance of the country and the city.  In the summer, she and her husband and their two children help with a family-owned campground in the beautiful Brainerd-lakes area in central Minnesota. Winter brings an annual pilgrimage to the Florida sunshine and frequent ventures to the Caribbean for open water sailing and diving.
