Sarah Murphy, Ph.D.

Sarah Murphy is part of the heart and soul of MDA's talent management and assessment services, building long-term client relationships with senior HR leaders who count on her to help them make tough decisions about the right people to hire and who to develop as future leaders. Clients describe her as being highly responsive, inquisitive, and courageous, and they value the insightful perspectives she routinely brings when approaching new projects.

In addition to her extensive assessment experience, Sarah applies her understanding of sales and marketing, operations, and management behavior to help leaders advance their influence and effectiveness through executive coaching. She is a results-oriented leader known for developing deep relationships and trust with the people with whom she works.

Sarah joined MDA in 1997, was promoted to principal consultant in 2004. Her experience as a consultant has been shaped by work with some of MDA's Fortune 500 clients such as Ecolab, Deluxe, and General Mills. In addition to assessment and executive coaching, she enjoys building custom competency models, has deep expertise in 360-degree feedback, and frequently gets involved in larger-scale succession planning projects.

Sarah is a Canadian who migrated south for the winter and has yet to return! She completed a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Winnipeg, Canada, and earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Minnesota. Away from the office, Sarah is both athletic and adventurous. She enjoys running, traveling, spending time with her two children, and staying actively involved in her Minneapolis neighborhood.
